Please note that due to the ongoing COVID situation we may need to modify or cancel bookings at short notice or even refuse entry to the premises if we are unable to ensure adequate social distancing within the premises.

We are maintaining an energetic, constant risk-assessment every day and appreciate your support and cooperation during this difficult time. Diners bringing dogs must let us know at the booking stage as we only allow pets at certain tables.

We also ask out guests to be aware that we are not a gluten or allergen-free kitchen. We make all our dishes, bake our breads and make our desserts, prepare our meat, seafood, shellfish and soups fresh every day, so there is always the risk of cross-contamination for serious allergy sufferers. Whilst we are happy to offer gluten-free bread, we must stress that we are NOT a gluten free kitchen.

These are unprecedented times for all of us, and the hospitality sector in particular has come under enormous pressure with staff shortages meeting huge demand.

The chefs at the Malthouse have been producing breakfast lunch and dinner 7 days a week and worked themselves close to exhaustion. To protect them, and ensure our customers receive the standard of food they expect, I have taken the difficult decision to close the restaurant on Mondays and Tuesdays until the last week of July. This is to ensure that they get the proper rest that they are entitled to, are able to work safely and produce the spectacular food we are renowned for, without pushing themselves to breaking point.

It is hard to turn customers away, particularly after a long winter of lockdown, but I have to put the wellbeing of the team first. If we manage to bring on suitably qualified staff we will revisit our opening hours.

I apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment this may cause you and very much encourage you to join us for drinks on Monday and Tuesday or to move your dinner reservations to Wednesday-Sunday.
